Reuters Thailand will use IKM’s leading knowledge measurement solution, TeckChek, to map the training and development requirements of its 450 IT professionals.

Melbourne, Australia – Wednesday, March 23, 2005IKM, a company specializing in web-based employee assessment solutions and services today announced winning a two year contract with Reuters Software (Thailand) Ltd. (RSTL) which gives Reuters unlimited access to TeckChek. Reuters Ltd., a global information company providing information tailored for professionals in the financial services, media and corporate markets will use TeckChek for its Thailand software development operations to identify, analyze and manage training programs across the enterprise.

Lisa Beaumont, Training and Development Manager, Reuters Software Thailand Ltd (RSTL) said, “We have grown rapidly over the last three years, placing greater demands on our recruitment and people development requirements. Reuters Software Thailand is one of Reuters main Software Development Centers , so efficiency and effectiveness of our IT professionals is key to our success.”
TeckChek enables large organizations to manage enterprise-wide information technology (IT) skills and improve the productivity of technical recruiting, training, staff augmentation, and resource management programs.

Using TeckChek, Reuters Software Thailand will have unlimited access to over 200 computer-based, adaptive exams in a wide array of advanced technologies to identify the most technically qualified candidates and verify the technical skills of IT staffing consultants. This will allow greater selection capabilities of new candidates, as well as develop tailored and meaningful skills development programs for existing employees.

“We are using TeckChek to benchmark the skill sets that are required for our IT operation. We can then test our teams and tailor training programs where we have identified weaknesses. This will give us greater focus, eliminate wasted training, and pinpoint the individuals that need the most development”, said Beaumont.
Reuters Software Thailand will use TeckChek for the assessment of their most widely used languages and operating systems including C++, Java, Visual Basics, Microsoft Windows and Unix. Training programs will be developed where required, and reassessment administered to measure the effectiveness of programs.
“We will now have the capability to evaluate how our people development programs are performing which we were not able to do before. This will give us the ability to ensure we are getting a Return on Investment (ROI) on our efforts, and allow us to further improve programs over time”, said Beaumont.

After accessing TeckChek for only four weeks, Reuters Software Thailand is already seeing the benefits. “We love TeckChek as it is easy to use and allows you to perform tasks more quickly than before. We can now customize assessment programs in minutes. Before using TeckChek we would spend over four hours building a test, and then we would have to benchmark and administer it. That could take weeks”, said Beaumont.

Frank Palinkas, VP Asia Pacific Operations, IKM said, “This association with Reuters further solidifies our position as one of the leaders in Knowledge Management in the Asia Pacific region. We welcome Reuters Software Thailand as one of our clients and look forward to continued success as we expand our footprint in the region.”

In 2001, Reuters has invested 46 million Thai baht to create a state-of-the-art facility now employing about 450 staff including software development, testing and project management professionals in Thailand. Reuters Software (Thailand) Ltd. (RSTL) oversees development and support responsibility for real-time financial applications for market data display and analysis, order routing, transaction processing, news content creation and data distribution. Since its opening, RSTL has enabled Reuters to improve customer service and reduce costs by consolidating development activities that previously took place in multiple locations. In 2004, RSTL was formally certified at Level 5 of the Software Engineering Institute’s CMMI model for Software Process Improvement (SPI). RSTL is the 42nd organization globally, the first in Southeast Asia and the first in Thailand to achieve CMMI Level 5 certification.
