Alliance will enable clients to get an integrated complete e-learning solution

Edison, New Jersey – Thursday, August 12, 2004Tata Interactive Systems (TIS) and TeckChek have announced a formal partnership to jointly develop and market computer-based adaptive assessment products for clients in the corporate world. This partnership enables the two companies to now offer an integrated e-learning solution, including adaptive assessments, on any knowledge area.

The assessment component is key to the success of the basic instructional model of “assess, teach, practice, and evaluate.” Unlike traditional assessment approaches, adaptive assessments adjust the degree of difficulty to the skills of the learner. Questions get harder or easier based upon answers to the previous questions. Therefore, no time is wasted giving beginners advanced questions or asking senior professionals questions that are too basic. In an adaptive assessment, each question is assigned a weight representative of difficulty level. Thus, adaptive tests do not measure how many questions were answered correctly; instead, they measure the difficulty level of the questions that were answered correctly.

In the e-learning market, clients are increasingly looking to vendors who can be full-service providers. To this end, this partnership is likely to strengthen both parties since they can harness each other’s strengths and approach clients with an integrated offering. “We believe clients would prefer to have one integrated vendor who can provide cut to cloth services, right from training audits and training needs assessment through to adaptive assessments. When we add our adaptive assessment tools to TIS’s development skills, expertise, and market presence, we have the complete recipe for success,” said William Mundell, Chairman, TeckChek.

Manoj Kutty, Head of TIS’ U.S. Operations, added, “We see that adaptive assessments are becoming increasingly critical in corporate learning and development. Not only does it help in assessing employee learning, it also enables employee fitness in appropriate roles. In our analysis, TechChek has a powerful adaptive assessment methodology and our partnership will enable us to offer a full range of product solutions to our clients.”
